Like the tides of fashion, wedding trends come and go; the approaching online age of nuptials is coming in fast and causing quite the wave. From AI-generated floor layouts and digital invites, modern couples are finding new ways of broadcasting their love. Here are some of the biggest trends in technology that will shape weddings in 2025, and how the industry is adapting to meet couples' expectations.

  • Smart invites and AI-powered planning

As we move further into a paperless society, we are seeing the rise of smart invites. RSVPS have turned digital and enable guests to respond, select meal preferences, and even book accommodation all in one place.

We’ve also seen the rise in AI-powered wedding planning tools to help couples manage guest lists, timelines and vendor coordination.

  • Livestreaming and virtual guest experiences

The pandemic brought the rise of many digital advancements. More than before, people were working from home, video calling and livestreaming concerts. This has now moved into the wedding space! Couples are livestreaming their weddings, so those who couldn't come or are too unwell to travel can watch the whole day from the comfort of their home.

Some couples are evening incorporating VR technology so that the viewer feels as though they are really there!

  • Personalisation through AI and AR

One being artificial intelligence and the other being augmented reality; couples can now use AI to create wedding playlists and table plans, along with AR to see what their wedding decor would look like on the day.

Venues could embrace this trend by offering virtual walkthroughs of the big day, so the couple can rest easy knowing their day is already perfect.

  • Sustainability and tech-driven catering

Sustainability remains a top priority, and tech is making it easier than ever. Smart menu planning tools that accurately predict how much food each guest will consume can help reduce food waste.

This could perhaps even be applied to the wedding cake to ensure there isn't surplus asking to be wasted or forgotten about.

  • Growth of cashless, contactless and crypto gifts

With the paperless movement, we also find the cashless shift, aided by QR codes. Couples are now displaying QR codes at their weddings and asking for cash gifts towards honeymoons, or savings for a new home. Perhaps a more seamless option for those tricky situations where you can’t quite workout what the right gift would be and feel wrong turning up empty handed.

Additionally, in 2025, cashless and crypto-based wedding gifts are growing in popularity, with couples creating digital registries that accept cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and cashless transfers.

With anything in life, it’s important to keep up with the times, failure to do so could leave you behind and rather confused. The modern age of weddings is no different! You may feel that some of the changes are for the worse and others for the better. However, it is hard to deny the convenience a lot of these changes bring.
