Hen parties on UK soil are the number one choice for Brits, according to new research from Butlin's Big Weekenders.
According to a study commissioned to mark the reopening of Butlin's Big Weekenders breaks in September, over half of Brits (53%) say a hen do in the UK is more appealing than one abroad and almost the same (54%) say a hen do is better on one resort where all the facilities are in one place.
On a Butlin's Big Weekender guests can enjoy accommodation, food, drink entertainment, and activities all in one place. The adult-only weekends are available at all three resorts - Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness. What's more, organisation is key for British hens, as data reveals the most common time to plan a hen do is 3-4 months in advance, in stark comparison to men, who are most likely to plan a stag do just 2-3 days in advance!
Given the increased pressure of the cost-of-living crisis, it's no surprise that UK hens are placing a greater emphasis on value for money – with 55% saying that the cost element was the worst part of a hen do.
Doing away with tradition, it seems rising costs are causing a decline in Hen dos nationally, as 51% of women say they're less likely to go on a Hen do, and a further 57% say they're reducing the number of activities they take part in to keep costs low. With lots included in the price of a Butlin's Big Weekender break, guests can benefit from three nights of accommodation, multiple venues, headline acts and DJs all included in the price of the break. There's also pool parties and silent discos included plus great value activities like bottomless brunches and more.
When it comes to Hen's favourite activities – it's no surprise that food and drink top the list, but it seems Brits have a passion for bottomless brunch (30%), clubbing (27%) and karaoke (26%). Anyone booked onto a Big Weekender celebration will be able to take their pick from four different bottomless brunch sessions over the course of the weekend.
If you want to avoid drama, data suggests there are some guests you'll need to keep an eye on throughout the celebrations, with over one in 10 (13%) labelling the mother-in-law as the biggest liability on a Hen do, followed by work colleagues (12%) and mothers (11%).
Alex Meyer, Head of Product & Proposition at Butlin's said: "Our Butlin's Big Weekenders aren't just about a weekend away, they're about re-connecting with friends, letting your hair down and getting away from the responsibility of everyday life. That weekender feeling is synonymous with fun, friends, fancy dress and more entertainment than you'll ever need.
"Our research has revealed that cost is one of the biggest concerns when planning a Hen do, so we've worked hard to make sure all of our guests get fantastic value for money and an incredible experience. Big Weekenders are packed with such a wide range of activities – it doesn't matter if you're a fancy dress fanatic or a bottomless brunch pro – we've got it all! All three of our resorts have everything you need to make your Hen do feel like the biggest and best celebration of the year."
