Temple Newsam is a spectacular stately home and estate in Leeds, and a true hidden gem in West Yorkshire. The stunning Grade I listed house boasts sumptuous interiors and historic architecture throughout. The country house is surrounded by formal gardens and beautiful parkland, providing an elegant setting for your wedding ceremony and celebrations.
The house holds museum collections of national importance, second only to the V&A in London, and has been described as the ‘Hampton Court Palace of the North’. There are plentiful backdrops for photography, and flexible spaces for intimate and larger weddings.
Outdoors, the gardens offer something different all year round, and the beautiful South Terrace offers lovely views across the estate.
In 2024 we opened our decadent Picture Gallery for weddings; bookings for this space include exclusivity of the house, meaning you can indulge in an enchanting setting knowing it’s all yours.
We can offer ceremony and wedding breakfast packages that are flexible and pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service throughout. We work closely with a small selection of caterers who know Temple Newsam well, with seasonal menus accompanied by a selection of drinks to suit your needs.

Designed in the 1500s, the Great Hall was used for celebrations and feasting, so is perfect for your ceremony and wedding breakfast. The full length stained glass windows and grand piano create a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony, with a secret door leading to the terrace. The Great Hall can hold up to 100 guests and has the benefit of direct access to the beautiful South Terrace, overlooking the gardens. The Great Hall leads to the dramatic Oak staircase, of which you would have exclusive use for photographs.

Our most intimate space, the Dining Room can seat up to 40 guests for a ceremony, or 30 for dining. It's oak panelled walls, Chiravari chairs, feature fireplace, and stunning silver wine cooler (one of the largest in the world!) make it a lovely setting. The Dining Room leads to the dramatic Oak staircase, of which you would have exclusive use for photographs.

Brand new for 2024, the dramatic interior of the Picture Gallery is our most spectacular space for larger weddings of up to 150 guests. It is one of the finest examples of Rococo styling, similar to the look of the interiors seen in Bridgerton. Hiring the Picture Gallery requires full closure of the house, so it will be all yours for the duration of your celebrations.
