Your Yorkshire Wedding - July/August 2024 (Issue 67)

Our photographers went above and beyond, as did our videographers. I’m not a fan of a camera and was anxious as well as self-conscious about being filmed and photographed, but they made me feel so comfortable. I cried when I saw the photos and videos after the wedding. They made it so perfect, and really took their time to make sure we were happy. Nothing was too much trouble. A spreadsheet is essential to planning, and budget is everything. This made us feel in control and were able to tick off when we’d booked certain things, paid off parts, and could see the to-do list going down as we creeped closer to the day. Into the evening, the sax player took it up a notch playing Ibiza classics to get the party started. A singer performed our first dance song, and the dance with our mums, along with some other tunes to finish. There were no lulls that you sometimes get at weddings, and many said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to! A saxophonist kicked off the celebrations after the ceremony, playing traditional sounds while everyone mingled on Waterton’s front lawn and ate canapes. Later, during the wedding breakfast, we surprised guests with singing waiters. They absolutely loved it, and you could tell it happened just at the right time to get people going. Main course was beef with seasonal veg, potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. For dessert we tucked into cheesecake. In the evening we had a barbecue with a mixture of cooked meats, kebabs, burgers and salads. We served our wedding cake for dessert. We were able to reuse a lot of our décor later in the day, which was relocated to the boathouse for the evening reception. We had fairylights across the ceiling to light up the room as we looked out to the lake, coupled with a starlit dancefloor. We also had an amazing photo booth that got everyone involved. It took the form of a huge vanity mirror. REAL WEDDINGS 33
