Your Yorkshire Wedding - November/December 2023 (Issue 63)

My maid of honour, Tree (short for Teresa) looked beautiful in her blue Next dress to match our theme. Our florist went above and beyond, putting flowers in my bouquet to represent my mum, who passed away a few weeks after I came off life support. She even created a smaller version which she placed in a vase alongside a photo of mum on her wedding day. My second dress was very different from the first, expanded at the back to make it into a corset. It skimmed over my stoma making it impossible to see. Hidden disabilities have their challenges! I couldn’t get Ian’s ring on, so had to push and wriggle it a fair bit, saying, ‘You will go on – you will be mine’! I had two dresses, as due to my illness I had to have a stoma fitted – and we didn’t want the worry of it bursting. My first dress was a Pronovias gown in champagne that made me feel truly beautiful. Our stationery and signage was perfect, from the invites and even the signs in the bathroom. They were made by my ex-husband, Mark of Simply NKS Design, who I’m still really good friends with. 33 REAL WEDDINGS
