Jonny wore a beige Hugo Boss suit with green tweed waistcoat and pink Hermés tie. The colours complemented the greens and pinks of the flowers, plus the castle’s stonework, perfectly. We have to commend Dave and Susie, who work at the castle and function as Masters of Ceremony. Nothing was too much – Dave even hosted archery for the guests to try in the courtyard. One of the highlights of the day – besides getting married! – were the musicians we hired to play instrumental medieval music. We had each other’s wedding bands engraved with a surprise message. Standing in the courtyard directly after the ceremony, we finally read the messages we’d be wearing for the rest of our lives. On the day of the wedding our cat, Sausage, went missing! Our house sitter messaged before the ceremony to say he’d been found, so my smile during our vows might have looked a bit like relief! I loved not having much structure in the day, managing to avoid running around trying to find people for photos, or trying to corral people into different situations. 40
