Valerie’s extremely proud of her customisable Ready to Wear collection; and Bespoke: one-of-a-kind headwear. Valerie takes inspiration from nature’s colour pallet and her travel adventures to create some beautiful hats. Valerie marries traditional millinery techniques with contemporary styling and materials to create individual, vibrant hats and headpieces. She moulds and shapes materials such as sinamay, fine silks or even tweeds by hand or using wooden hat blocks. After that, the real work begins, from wiring, covering, sewing together and finally adding trimmings. She adds, “I use a variety of materials from silks and leather to beads and feathers.” Valerie offers her clients a one-to-one service where she spends a lot of time getting to know her client and their story behind the hat. “It’s so important that the hat reflects the wearer’s personality, and they wear it with confidence and excitement on the day,” says Valerie. “Positive feedback is the biggest reward; it all comes down to that one moment when you hand over the hat to the customer.
