Your Yorkshire Wedding - November/December 2021 (Issue 51)

The painting Flaming June has long had personal family significance for accessory designer Heidi Reid of Glorious by Heidi. Heidi is the third of first-born girls all born in the month of June in her family: her grandmother June, her mother Linda June, and now herself, Heidi June. Each have all had a copy of the famous artwork hanging in their homes. A conversation about this fact with fellow art lover and wedding photographer Catherine of Boho Chic Weddings, alongside plans to style a shoot to inspire brides choosing to wear a coloured wedding dress, led to the painting providing a focus for the shoot. Heidi and Catherine were keen to use a British dress designer to supply a coloured wedding dress and were delighted to find the very talented Hebe of Miss He Bridal based close to home in the north of England. Heidi tells us more: “Hebe’s bold statement bridal two-piece, with rich pomegranate-toned colour, was a bespoke design created especially for the shoot. It consists of a velvet top with 3/4 length bell sleeves paired with a tiered ruffle skirt that moved beautifully when model Phoebe skipped across the lawns of Goldsborough Hall in the bright, autumn sunshine. Other elements that were extremely important in the styling of the day was planning a colour scheme that would support such bold toned bridal wear but not become so overbearing as to lose the impact of the dress, as well as designing a table setting that whilst small retained an opulence fitting for the grand Goldsborough Hall setting and statement Miss He Bridal wear.” Sticking with the same tonal range, florist and table stylist, Beth of Yorkshire-based Bureau Botany, used blush David Austin roses in the floral accompaniments, warming things up with the considered and restrained use of apricot and burnt orange. Gold cutlery and golden rimmed glassware from Whitehouse Event crockery, coupled with gold foiled stationery from Gray Starling Designs, brought the luxe that the setting required. For the hair, accessory designer Heidi of Glorious by Heidi knew that statement bridalwear requires a statement hair accessory to make sure the eye of your partner and your guests travels all the way up through your look and doesn’t stall midway. Heidi describes the perfect piece: “The Harley Crown from the Glorious by Heidi collection provided that statement, with the richness of the pomegranate bridalwear complemented by the warmth of the metallic gold crystals featured in this design and cooler silver leaves preventing the look from becoming too heavy.” Of the photography Heidi says: “A smaller wedding with fewer guests allows more time for you and your partner to head off with your photographer to capture more experimental, fun, memorable images that reflect your character and the things you love about one another. I was personally overjoyed that photographer Catherine indulged me in recreating the iconic painting Flaming June during our photoshoot. It goes to show that if you have a good relationship with your photographer, sharing family traditions and stories with them before your wedding day can help inspire them to create some truly meaningful and memorable images on your wedding day.” 46
