Your Yorkshire Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 46)
TOTEM TIPI What should couples consider before booking a tipi? ❤ When booking a tipi, the first question to ask yourself is how many guests you have, as this dictates how many tipis you’ll need. It’s also good to think about the type of wedding you’d like, whether that’s a formal seated affair or a more relaxed festival-style feel. Getting an idea of the couple’s vision helps us to tailor the perfect package. How can you help couples adapt their day during the pandemic? ❤ The great thing about tipis is that we can create the size of venue that suits your numbers; if you need to cut the guest list, we can reduce the amount of tipis needed and vice versa. These versatile structures feel intimate and cosy for 30 guests or can accommodate a large gathering of more than 200 people. Charlie Land | www.totemtipi.co.uk PLANNING We get the wed-min lowdown from some of Yorkshire’s most sought-after suppliers OMG you’re engaged! After all the excitement of the proposal, there’s the dawning realisation that you have to plan a once-in-a-lifetime event – oh, and you’re the centre of attention. Do not fear! We’ve asked some of our favourite wedding companies to give us their top tips for what to consider before booking your suppliers and how you can adapt your day if you plan to wed during the pandemic. We’ve even split the suppliers up into three handy rounds, as a guide to when you should be booking each type of business. Starting with… SOS ROUND ONE – THE VENUE AND PHOTOGRAPHER. SPICER MANOR What should couples consider before booking their venue? ❤ Choose a venue that can adapt to the size of your wedding and is versatile enough to deal with unexpected changes. Also, make sure you understand the wedding package and check there are no hidden costs. Be clear what you’re paying for and what’s included – so you don’t get any unwanted surprises! ❤ Try not to be too fixed on a date. Find a setting you love that works for you, then check their availability and choose a date. This helps to avoid disappointment and added stress. How can you help couples adapt their day during the pandemic? ❤ We have two ceremony options as well as wedding breakfast and reception choices; whether you want a large or small day we can adapt to your preference. At Spicer Manor, you hire the whole house and the Coach House, so you can make decisions right up until the last minute about where you want to hold different aspects of your day and how many bedrooms you require. ❤ Our chef is very flexible and can change the number of meals needed within a week’s notice. Having exclusive use means there are no other couples to work around. Lisa Hunt | www.spicermanor.co.uk RJH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY What should couples consider before booking their photographer? ❤ Established photographers often get booked 12 to 18 months in advance, sometimes longer, so consider your photographer as the next step after securing your venue. ❤ Think about having two photographers, not to be needlessly indulgent, but because there’s so much going on that having two pairs of eyes will help you get more from your photography. Also, for those special moments like coming up the aisle and morning preparations, you’ll get two perspectives, two individuals and two stories becoming one. ❤ I consistently hear couples say that they don’t look good in photos, but they soon realise that results are very different when the image is taken on a phone or selfie stick, and interacting with a person rather than doing it yourself helps you relax and produces more flattering shots. Trust that investing in a professional photographer will accentuate your best features and produce results you’ll love. How can you help couples adapt their day during the pandemic? ❤ Ask your photographer if they can produce a sneak peak of some of the images on the day. This means that your guests who haven’t been able to attend can still share in the moment. Add a hashtag to the mix, and the guests that are there can create a stream of live moments that will help others feel part of the day.
