24 LOOKING THE PART Abi has always loved the old-school glamour of stars such as Ava Gardner and Grace Kelly, so she chose a timeless A-line satin gown with a detachable off-the-shoulder lace overlay. “It was a little out of my comfort zone, but I felt like a church wedding went well with this style of dress,” she says. “I completed the look with an ivory fingertip veil.” The mother-of- the-bride did Abi and her sister’s hair and the bridal party applied their own make-up. “I just wanted to enjoy getting ready in the morning and still look like me on the day. The dress was quite a statement so I kept my hair and make- up pared-back.” Tom and his groomsmen looked dapper in navy three-piece suits with a blush pink tie and white buttonhole. “Tom ended up having more alterations than the bride,” Abi laughs. Like so many nearlyweds, they found it hard to find the perfect bridesmaids dresses. “We finally settled on full-length blush numbers and they looked beautiful,” she says. “My flowergirl wore a similar dress to mine with a full skirt that she swished like a pro! What a cutie.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS The couple agreed that the ceremony was their favourite part of the day. “It went so quickly, but it felt so special having all of our family and friends around us,” Abi says. “We can’t stop looking back at the photographs of the moment we became Mr and Mrs.” Another memorable moment was when they started married life with a bang. “I love fireworks and we thought it’d be a great end to the day,” Abi says. “Tom’s dad arranged them for us and they were incredible – definitely a highlight.” THE DREAM TEAM The pair couldn’t have done it without the help of their loved ones and some amazing local suppliers. A special shout-out has to go to their photographer Hayley Baxter Photography. “Hayley was recommended to me and after looking at her Instagram we got in touch straight away,” Abi says. “The style was just what we were looking for, she made us feel at ease and captured some brilliant moments. She gave us beautiful dramatic shots without stealing us away from our guests for too long. We have amazing memories to keep forever.”
