Your Yorkshire Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 44)
34 REAL WEDDINGS We had a lot of people staying at the venue the night before, so we hired a double-decker bus to transport guests to the church. Everyone loved having a catch up in the morning. I travelled in a vintage Rolls Royce and my mum and bridesmaids were in a London taxi. Our drivers were so kind, and even gave us champagne for the journey back to the barn! The venue recommended Ray Wade Catering; the team were fantastic and so great to work with. So many people said it was the best food they’d had at a wedding. After the meal, we surprised our guests with singing waiters. It really was a highlight of the day and our loved ones are still talking about it now. They had everyone singing and dancing on their chairs by 6pm! The cake was made by my friend Amy, who runs her own business. I told her what I had in mind and what she produced was beautiful. It had three delicious tiers of white chocolate and raspberry, carrot cake and chocolate. Amy and her mum set it up in the morning and finished it off with draped greenery. The men all wore traditional tails with burgundy accessories to coordinate with the styling. Jamie stood out in a different style of waistcoat. My bridesmaids rocked 50s-style gowns in burgundy with gold shoes and accessories. Some of our family friends are very arty, so we were lucky to have personalised ‘Mr and Mrs Whitlow’ hessian bunting from our friend Sharron, and her husband designed our order-of-service, which featured a sketch of our church and even our dog!
