I found out that Louise Perry Bridal had it so I arranged an appointment. I hadn’t been very excited by any dresses, but this took my breath away. I added a beaded belt and a finger-length crystal veil. Louise was brilliant, opening outside of normal times for my trips back to Yorkshire. Julian, his best man and both our dads wore blue dinner suits from Moss Bros, with Julian wearing a blue tie to stand out. My bridesmaids live in Guernsey, Yorkshire and Spain so it was proving difficult to shop together. In the end, we found navy V-neck styles in taffeta and they fitted beautifully. At the drinks reception, a magician broke the ice while we served canapés, prosecco and a rum berry punch – a recipe we brought back from the Caribbean. During the main meal, we hired Singers in Disguise, who burst into song in front of our unsuspecting guests and performed everything from ABBA to opera! In the evening, our DJ kept the dancefloor full. We were so happy from start to finish - I don’t think we stopped smiling once. All of our suppliers were amazing, particularly Bev at Standedge Visitor Centre and our photographer, Kathryn. We were extremely apprehensive about having our photo taken, but she quickly made us at ease and she really captured the day. Nicola’s top tip: Organise the planning in blocks. Give yourself a set amount of time to book each aspect.
