Your Yorkshire Wedding - Mar/Apr 2020 (Issue 41)
The table plan was a map of the world made up of small hearts, some of which were red to show where we had visited together. There were luggage tags as the table names, which were written by a Guernsey supplier, Adrienne Dawn Calligraphy. It was important to represent Guernsey in the day as it’s been our home for 12 years. The bridal car was a white Jaguar Mk2 from All Luv’Dub, it was just like one Julian’s dad had when he was growing up. We also hired a 1959 AEC Regent V bus to transport our guests from the church to Marsden railway station. From here, we boarded boats to take us to the visitor centre. The bridal party were on the fantastic Little Blue Boat; the skipper had decorated it in pink and white flowers. I worked at Gimbals Restaurant in Sowerby Bridge when I was younger, and I knew they would provide my wedding catering. There were amazing canapés and a charcuterie platter to start. The main was chicken breast filled with local rosemary halloumi wrapped in Serrano, and the dessert was an indulgent selection of sweet treats. All the ingredients were local, except the Guernsey potatoes that they sourced especially. In the evening, there was a fab burger van from Saddleworth Catering Company. Adrienne also wrote tags for our favours: homemade sloe gin. Julian and I hand-picked around 6kg of sloes from the Guernsey cliffs helped by two of our bridesmaids. 47 REAL WEDDINGS
