Images courtesy of Photography by Kathryn One fine day REAL WEDDINGS 45 ▶ A mutual friend had been trying to introduce Nicola and Julian for years, because they were apparently “both as weird as each other”. “It was four years before we finally met,” Nicola says. “Our love of chemistry and physics kept us chatting that first night, and many nights since then.” Within a year, the pair had moved to Guernsey together. Nicola had asked Julian for years when they would be tying the knot. “It came one day when a friend gave him an auction catalogue and told him he’d find a ring in there,” she says. “When he said he’d take a look I nearly fell off my chair!” The pair set the date for 1 st June, 2019, with a church ceremony in Sowerby followed by a reception at the fabulous Standedge Tunnel Visitor Centre.
