Your Yorkshire Wedding - Mar/Apr 2020 (Issue 41)

Piers and the groomsmen rocked a three-piece maroon checked Cavani suit with a purple silk tie and a pocket watch. I had a vision of what my bridesmaids would look like, and I found the perfect lilac dress with floral jewel detail.  I wore a halterneck Justin Alexander ballgown from Scarlet Poppy Bridal Boutique. It’s not what I had in mind, but it felt so right when I put it on and I loved the blush fabric and vintage style. I accessorised it with a chapel-length veil, which was handmade by Adorn by Ashley and embellished with pink and purple flowers. For our place settings, we sat rustic cards in corks and my dad hand-calligraphed the names on. We treated our guests to a personalised shot glass – in homage to Piers’ love of shots! The table plan was a copper-sprayed tree with cards hanging from the branches. We named the tables after places that are significant to us, such as our first holiday, where we met and where we got engaged. On the top table we displayed a set of drinking horns and a sheathed dagger, which we used to cut the cake. The rest of the castle was decorated with candles, ivy, fairylights and special personalised decorations made by family members. REAL WEDDINGS 41
