On cloud NINE Amy and Ben celebrated in style at Dunedin Country House Images courtesy of Daniel Urben Wedding Photography A my and Ben’s story is a modern fairytale, as they met on a dating app. “My mum advised me to sign up following a break up – she thought it’d be a laugh at least,” Amy tells us. “After a few days, I got a message from Ben. We chatted on and off for a while but whenever he asked for a date I made excuses. One Friday evening, he messaged saying he was taking me out and he wasn’t going to take no for an answer.” Amy borrowed a tenner from her mum and met him, and that was that! Ben proposed to Amy under the Rockefeller Center’s Christmas tree in New York. “We’d planned to see the Christmas light switch-on,” Amy remembers. “But it was pouring with rain and heaving with people. Instead, we decided to get up at 5am the next morning to see the tree with no one else around.” Busy taking photos, Amy hadn’t noticed that Ben was pulling a ring from his pocket. “I turned around and he was down on one knee,” she says. “I thought he was joking at first – it was a total surprise.” Back home, the pair got to work planning their perfect day at Dunedin Country House for 26 th May, 2019.
