Philly Smith, who has spent the last three years working predominantly for fashion houses in the USA, was appointed as wedding planner at the Majestic Hotel this year, which is nearing the completion of a £15million transformation. One of the spa town’s most familiar sights, it was purchased in November 2016 by the family-run Cairn Group, which will relaunch it as Harrogate’s first DoubleTree by Hilton hotel. “The Majestic Hotel has always been a landmark of style and elegance,” Philly says. “It’s a very popular venue for wedding receptions, especially with our extensive gardens serving as a superb backdrop for photos. The museum will be opening its doors for an evening of inspiration featuring some of Yorkshire’s finest wedding suppliers. For more information, head to railwaymuseum.org.uk jonnydraper.co.uk LASTING LOVE Property developer and TV personality Sarah Beeny and her husband Graham Swift have sold the Grade II* listed Rise Hall to Yorkshire-based hospitality entrepreneurs Daniel and Helen Gill with Stuart Ward remaining the resident manager. Steeped in history, the building is recorded in the Domesday Book and Richard III once owned the estate.
