REAL WEDDINGS 31 my new step-daughter!” The savoury creation was placed on a log slice and adorned with leaves, pine cones and berries. LOOKING THE PART Like many brides, Louise had a strong idea of what she wanted for her dress, but ended up changing her mind. “I was adamant I wanted sleeves,” she tells us. “When I tried them on it just didn’t feel right.” She kept coming back to Blake by Viva Bride. “It made me feel like a princess – even though that wasn’t the look I was going for,” she laughs. After picking out a veil at a wedding show months in advance, Louise chose the dress colour to match it. “That’s probably the wrong way of doing it!” Louise says. “I added a touch of sparkle with a hairpiece and glittery shoes.” On the day, she wore her grandmother’s wedding ring as her something old . The gents wore different suits to match their individual styles, while all complementing the colour scheme. Louise’s best girls wowed in grey dresses with sparkle detail, while the younger bridesmaids rocked pretty ivory styles. TIME TO CELEBRATE When they sent out their invitations, the pair asked each of their guests for a song request when they returned the RSVP. “It worked brilliantly as people were rushing to the dancefloor as soon as the DJ played their track,” Louise says. “We also asked for Grease Megamix as a lot of the cast from the show had travelled from America to celebrate with us. We did the choreography on a whim – it was so much fun!” MEMORABLE MOMENTS As well as the usual dad, best man and groom speech, Louise decided she would step up and raise a toast too. “I wanted to thank all my friends and family. I know it’s not traditional, but it was 2018 so why not!” she explains. Wedding Woofers is a supplier who really made the day special. “Having our chocolate labrador there was wonderful,” Louise smiles. “It was great knowing she was in safe hands with a brilliant company who walked her in the morning, got her spruced up, brought her to the venue and looked after her at home in the evening.” The newlyweds both felt overwhelmed on the day – but in the very best way! “I was so happy and excited, I had the biggest smile on my face all day,” Louise recalls. “Andrew says he felt like he was on a rollercoaster, although he was totally calm because it felt so right.”  Louise’s top tip: “If you don’t want to stick to tradition, then don’t! It’s your wedding, make it about the two of you.”
