Your Yorkshire Wedding - Mar/Apr 2019 (Issue 35)

Let’s be-gin After taking beer-lovers on brewery tours across the region, Brewtown Tours is now offering a gin experience – perfect for hen and stag groups! Owner Mark Stredwick says: “You’ll visit three independent gin distilleries each with its own approach to distilling and its own signature flavours, including the Yorkshire favourite: rhubarb gin.” Taking only small groups, you’ll get a real insight in to how each maker crafts their own speciality and you’ll even get some samples to take home. After the tour, you can finish your day with an elegant afternoon tea at York’s renowned Grays Court Hotel (grayscourtyork.com ). Head to brewtowntours.co.uk All the latest news from around the region Nearlywed NEWS After a weekend visiting family in a rain-soaked Manchester, I was desperately looking forward to my spa day at the fabulous Titanic Spa near Huddersfield. Located on the edge of the Pennines, the impressive building, which was once a traditional textile mill, appears at the bottom of a valley after driving through stunning scenery – the perfect place to escape to. My sister and I arrived on a grey, misty morning and stepped out of the cold and in to the super-trendy reception. A far cry from its industrial-looking exterior, inside it’s modern yet retains a warm and welcoming atmosphere. There are many original mill features and accessories styled on its namesake. As avid spa-goers, we were excited to be at the country’s first ever eco-spa. It’s become the holy grail of retreats after scooping a number of impressive accolades at the 2018 World Luxury Spa Awards, such as Luxury Eco Spa and Luxury Destination Spa. The state-of-the-art health and wellbeing facilities are powered by a wealth of renewable energy sources and eco-friendly strategies such as its own borehole, which provides pure Yorkshire water to its guests. As always, I was running late and feeling stressed. However, getting in my fluffy robe and sitting in the stylish waiting area for my treatment, the weight started lifting from my shoulders. By the time I’d had my treatment I was in full-on relaxation mode. I opted for the Titanic Organic Neom Full Body Massage. Tailored to your needs, the therapist worked to relax each part of my body. Concentrating on my problem areas, (I get terrible knots in my shoulders), I left feeling like my mood was lifted and the real world was a million miles away. I then met my sister in the relaxation room. The tranquil atmosphere may have been ruined slightly when I got stuck in a bean bag and we exploded into fits of giggles, but other than that it was divine! We then checked out the famous Heat & Ice Experience. Entering a large circular room, it guides you on a sensory journey with the aim of inducing deep relaxation. Moving around the room you enter different chambers, from the invigorating herbal infusion room and ice room, to the totally chilled aromatherapy room and crystal steam bath. We made our way around a few times, not wanting to leave; a highlight was sitting in the gloriously warm saunarium and watching people much braver than us jumping in to the freezing plunge pool. After checking out the swimming pool and outdoor Jacuzzi, it was time for lunch. With a focus on wellbeing, the food is light yet delicious. We ordered yummy vitamin-packed smoothies to boost the feel-good factor before it was time to head home. I can’t think of anywhere better to spend time with the girls for a spot of pre-wedding pampering.
