NEW EVENT SPACE FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD Nomad Catering by James Brown has seen a busy few years. After a rebrand and relocation last year, the company has been on the move again having already outgrown the building. To celebrate its new location in Follifoot, James and the team invited suppliers, clients and supporters to a canapé and drinks event, which was also attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Harrogate. Guests dined on delicious food from around the world including tostadas with ancho pulled pork, sticky hoisin lamb bao buns and the ultimate Nomad rossini: foie gras, Nidderdale beef fillet, toasted brioche and grated autumn truffle with red wine jus. Everything was washed down with prosecco on tap from the Nomad tuk tuk, local lager and pornstar martinis. The food has been developed using inspiration from James and the team’s travels – hence the company’s name. The new premises will enable the company to develop its menus further with an ongoing focus on weddings. “The last year has been an absolute whirlwind,” says James. “We’re a strong force on the Yorkshire scene and will be innovating and maintaining our high standards for years to come.” For more information, visit nomad-catering.co.uk Harriet Wilde Built at a cost of around £1.8m, Thirsk Racecourse has announced the latest addition to its events facilities, The Chestnut Room. Trendsetters Ripon-based caterers The Yorkshire Party Company has analysed recent enquiries and bookings to find out the latest catering trends. We caught up with sales manager Alison Hickey to find out more. “Many couples are breaking away from the traditional wedding breakfast, instead looking to offer their guests a taste of their travels and experiences in a more relaxed manner such as sharing platters or food stations,” Alison tells us. “We get excited by exploring menus from far and wide while using the best local and seasonal produce to create fresh ideas.” The company has also seen a rise in demand for different diets such as vegetarian and vegan along with more complex dietary requirements. “While embracing this change our dedicated team will produce the same attention to detail whether it’s for eight or 800 people,” Alison says. With the demands of more hectic lifestyles, many couples are looking to take the stress out of planning their special day by handing over the reins to the professionals. “Our enthusiastic event planners are on hand to help with everything from bespoke styling and menu planning to sourcing a marquee and full event management,” Alison explains.
