FLOWERS 57 PLANNING SO Top tips for creating the perfect wedding H ere at Your Surrey Wedding, we understand how overwhelming organising your nuptials can be, especially during a pandemic. To help, we’ve spoken to local experts and asked what you should be aware of being booking. BOOKING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER Choosing your photographer is exciting, but with so many styles, services and budgets to choose from, it can also be overwhelming. Book your photographer 12-18 months before your big day. Keep in mind that due to COVID-19, many 2020 couples will have postponed their weddings to 2021, meaning a reduction in popular dates. It may also be worthwhile asking your suppliers what their terms and conditions are in the event of future lockdowns. There are lots of different styles to choose from, so the best thing to do is find one that relates to your personalities. If you don’t like to be the centre of attention and don’t want to spend hours away from your guests posing for your photographs, then a documentary approach would be best. Your supplier will capture images discreetly, taking essential group shots and relaxed un-posed pictures. However, if you love being in front of the camera and your Instagram page can rival that of a Kardashian, you might want a more traditional/fashion-led photographer. There are, of course, photographers who are a blend of both styles, it’s all about finding the one whose work you love, and feel the most relaxed around. With prices ranging from £500 to £5,000, it can be difficult knowing what’s a fair amount to pay. For me, this is simple, if you’ve found a photographer whose style you love and completely trust then they’re worth the fee they’re charging. Denise Winter Photographer www.denisewinterphotography.co.uk PLANNING S0S STYING YOUR VENUE If your wedding has been postponed, the first thing you need to do is contact your wedding planner and the vendors involved. Do this as soon as possible so you can reschedule with minimal costs. If you don’t have a planner, you’ll have to work with each vendor on a case-by-case basis. The next step is to try and figure out a new date that works for everyone. Once you’ve chosen a venue, think about how you want to style it. It will determine the look, feel, tone and theme of your day, so make sure you choose somewhere that suits your style. If you’ve opted for an outdoor wedding, try and incorporate lots of natural colours like greens and blues. Alternatively, if you’ve decided to have an indoor celebration, look at the colour of the walls and materials used within the property. Ideally try and keep to one tone of wood, metal, stone or slate and incorporate that into your colour palette.
