Your Surrey Wedding- June/July 2020 (Issue 83)

Simon left the flowers and centrepieces to me. I had a very clear vision for the dining room and wanted it to feel grand and homely. We had large candle holders with white flowers made by our amazing florist, Love & Light. We kept the blooms classic to reflect the time of year. I wanted to do some DIY for the wedding so I decided to make the name cards as I thought it would be easy. I was very wrong! Simon and I spent many nights sticking pearls onto the corners, but it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever. Table plans can be tricky, but I think it’s nice to try and mix people where you can. We had a traditional top table for our parents, best man and chief bridesmaid. We were so proud to have them sitting with us and enjoying our special day. I think it can be stressful trying to stick to one theme or colour scheme, so we decided to let the day reflect our tastes naturally. I’ve always loved classic white and green flowers, so I knew that’s what I wanted. We incorporated them into the bridesmaids’ accessories and groomsmen’s suits which looked great. Hartsfield Manor had the country feel we were looking for with an impressive staircase and beautiful features. We wanted everyone to be able to stay at the property so that the celebration could continue into the next morning. As soon as we met the staff, they made us feel so welcome, and we knew right away it was the venue for us. Our big-day bake was a three-tier design with butter icing. Lots of people told us it was the yummiest cake they’d ever had! We decorated it with two pine cones and a gorgeous wreath made by our florist. 52
