Your Surrey Wedding- June/July 2020 (Issue 83)
I was very calm and collected throughout the whole planning process, but as soon as I went to walk down the aisle, I became very emotional. Seeing my dad at the bottom of the stairs set me off again, and I cried through most of the ceremony. I was overwhelmed with emotion, and Richard held onto my hand tightly as I thought I was going to faint. Richard is very good at staying cool, but I could tell he was nervous too. My dress was called Drinam by Pronovias from Teokath of London. It was the first dress I tried on, and nothing else compared. It was a mermaid-style with ivory tulle and a fitted bodice. I accessorised with a turquoise heart-shaped necklace and simple diamond earrings that my mum gifted me on the morning of the wedding. Richard opted for a tailored three-piece navy suit, and the groomsmen wore navy versions with silver waistcoats from Marks and Spencer. My bridesmaids chose Jenny Yoo dresses in blush pink from Nabbd. The gowns had V-necklines, fitted skirts and detail on the back. To keep our guests entertained, we had a variety of entertainment throughout the day. We had a pianist called Bryan Edery Music perform during the ceremony and drinks, and The Zealots played in the evening. The band were one of my favourite elements of the day and were a must-have for us as we love to party. As soon as they started playing the dancefloor was full all night. We were worried about the best man in the lead up to the wedding as he was very anxious about his speech and is known to like a drink. It turned out we were right to be worried as he got so drunk that he couldn’t do his speech and had to be propped up in most of the photos! Andrew, one of the ushers, did a great job of stepping in and covering the best man’s speech and my bridesmaid, Yasmin, was great at looking after him during the meal. REAL WEDDINGS 41
