DANCE TO THE BEAT First Dance Ltd are offering virtual dance classes. We spoke to Emma Brewer to find out more: “As a studio, we offer adult dance classes in all genres, so we thought why not do first dances as well? Couples can book a consultation over Zoom, which is a free 30-minute chat to discuss what you’re looking for and then we can offer either one-off lessons or a choreographed package.” For more information, check out www.firstdance.co.uk This is me In response to the pandemic, Slimming World has launched a new temporary virtual weight loss service. We spoke to Maxine Coyne to find out more: “Our service enables Slimming World’s members to continue to enjoy – in a virtual environment – weight loss support, as well as the friendly, community spirit that they find in their local group each week, all at a discounted fee. “The new package includes access to a weekly virtual group using Zoom. A consultant will host the group and invite members to join from home. The emphasis is on building and staying in control of a healthy lifestyle which is more difficult now than under normal circumstances. Slimming World’s formula is built on compassion, care and understanding, bringing a welcome bit of light in hard times which is more important now than ever before. None of us knows just what we’re facing in the next few months, so we feel sure that anything that can bring practical support, as well as friendship, relief and reassurance, is needed right now. While we believe nothing rivals the unbeatable magic of a Slimming World group, and although we may be physically apart, we don’t need to be alone. Technology can help us stay together.” Head over to www.slimmingworld.co.uk fo r more information. THE SLEEPOVER CLUB Sweet Dreams Teepees provides children’s tipis for parties and nuptials. First launching in 2019 as a sleepover business, the company has since expanded and is now offering wedding services. Chris Wilkie, the owner, tells us: “I wanted to turn an ordinary sleepover into something truly special. Receiving unconditional five- star ratings, with most children expressing that it was the best sleepover ever really makes it all worthwhile. With this in mind, I wanted to head the business in a different direction. Providing activities for children and creating a space they can use at a wedding venue. My A-Frame and Wigwam Teepees are available to hire and include a range of activities for children including colouring sheets, a personalised bag, teddies, water, sweets and much more. “The current crisis has been a challenging time for all businesses, so to help I’ve used leftover material to sew masks for those in need. In return, I’ve asked that recipients donate a tin of food to the Walton Working Men’s Club, where the volunteers collect, bag and distribute to the vulnerable. The volunteers in my community have been working round the clock distributing to those in need and I feel privileged to be a part of that community spirit.” For more information, visit www.sweetdreamsteepees.com PICK OF THE BUNCH Wildestyle is a new company specialising in high-quality faux and silk flowers.
