Your Surrey Wedding- April/May 2020 (Issue 82)
When we first saw Great Fosters we loved its impressive drive and grand exterior. I could picture the barn and orangery decorated, and the finished result looked amazing. Our welcome sign was a fairytale scroll placed on an easel wrapped with artificial lemon and white flowers. We had fairylights decorating the pillars and walls of the barn. My favourite cocktail is a kir royale, and Ian much prefers beer to champagne so to make it personal we had these two options as our reception drinks. Our favours were shots decorated with labels that read ‘Take a shot we’ve tied the knot, Mr & Mrs Threadingham 02.02.2019. I also had fortune cookies placed on the guests’ seats to spark conversation. I chose large centrepieces with a variety of small and medium bird cages. I placed the large trees on plinths to decorate the aisle and moved them for the reception. The Flying Florist dotted tiny birdcages around the orangery, which was a lovely surprise. Our big-day bake was from Ann’s Designer Cakes. We chose a four-tier design, with a ribbon around it and the Cinderella shoe from our engagement as the topper. 36
