JUST ONE SLICE Cakes by Nina based in Camberley has won Best Large Wedding Cake and Best Small Wedding Cake in the London area at The Cake Professionals (thecakeprofessionals.com) . Entries needed to be real cakes, made for clients between December 2018 and November 2019. We spoke to Nina Rogers from Cakes by Nina to find out more: “I created the large cake on 29 th June, 2019 for a gorgeous wedding at Frimley Hall Hotel. Busbridge Lakes was voted Best Pop-Up Wedding Venue at the UK Wedding Awards 2020. Best known for the largest collection of waterbirds in the country, the venue was purchased by Fleur Douetil who worked tirelessly to bring her vision of conservation to life. The property was demolished in 1906, and only an old coach house remained. With this restriction and the need to be in keeping with the grounds and bird sanctuary, the concept of an exclusive pop- up venue was created. The owner’s son, Bill Bouetil, said: “We’re ecstatic after just five seasons to have achieved this prestigious award and it’s a great accolade to the team and our friends’ hard work. This will really help us to further our exclusive wedding offering and in doing so, generate funds to support mum with her lifelong passion in the conservation of water birds, as well as supporting local businesses.
