REAL WEDDINGS 49 R ebecca and Stuart were close friends until their relationship slowly grew into something more. “We met at work,” says Rebecca. “We got on really well and just clicked.” Stuart popped the question during a day trip to London. “We walked along the South Bank and had a drink outside the Royal Festival Hall,” shares the bride. “We were enjoying ourselves when he asked me to marry him. It was the biggest and best surprise ever.” SETTING THE SCENE “We decided to get married at our local church,” explains Rebecca. “St Andrew’s Church is a beautiful and distinct venue and is part of our local community. We had our evening reception at Twickenham Rowing Club. It holds lots of happy memories for me as I was living in the area when we first started dating.” The lovebirds purchased their flowers from a market in Covent Garden. “I chose craspedias, sunflowers, peonies, ranunculi, eucalyptus, peonies and daisies,” shares the bride. “For our centrepieces, we placed small orange trees on each table and wrapped them in pink ribbons.” The couple’s big-day bake was made by Terrie’s Creative Cakery. “It was decorated with sugar flowers to match my bouquet,” shares Rebecca. “We opted for a variety of flavours, including lemon, elderflower, orange, passionfruit and Victoria sponge. We chose unusual fillings to match the décor and vibe of our day.” Rebecca and Stuart decided to hang pompoms from the venue’s rafters and use ribbons to tie back the curtains. They hired a classic Triumph Herald from Webb’s of Weybridge to transport them to the reception venue. “We decorated it with colourful ribbons and tied white cans to the boot,” shares the
