Your Surrey Wedding - October/November 2019 (Issue 79)
Pure bliss S urrey is one of my favourite places in the world, so when I was asked to visit Bingham Riverhouse in Richmond, I jumped at the chance. My mum joined me, and having not visited the area for years, she was giddy with excitement and couldn’t wait to see the sights. When we arrived, we were impressed by the hotel’s grand exterior and gorgeous décor. The pleasant receptionist answered any questions we had and made sure we settled in comfortably. The space went beyond our expectations, with a king-sized bed, a TV and grand windows, which overlooked the town. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we saw the en suite bathroom, boasting a walk-in rain shower, heated towel rails and a roll-top bath. After a few hours rest, we ventured out of the hotel ready to explore. We walked along the River Thames and enjoyed the charming wildlife and glorious sunshine. TO DINE FOR After lounging around on our unbelievably comfortable bed, it was a struggle dragging ourselves out of the room for dinner, even though I couldn’t wait to taste the food I’d heard so much about. I’m quite a fussy eater, but there was so much choice that it was difficult to choose just one dish! The delightful staff escorted us to our table where we were presented with drinks and our main course. We both opted for the beef sirloin with seasonal vegetables and Yorkshire puddings. My meal was delicious, and it was the ideal size to fill me up but leave enough room for what I consider to be the main event: dessert! I finished with a shortbread and white chocolate crumble – I have a really sweet tooth, so for me this was the perfect choice. The service was impeccable – the staff went out of their way to ensure we were enjoying ourselves and had everything we needed. A few hours later, we wearily climbed the grand staircase to our room, and I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. PURE INDULGENCE After the best night’s sleep we’d had in a long time, we awoke feeling like royalty. We had breakfast in the main restaurant, where there was something to suit everyone, from pastries and cereal to a full-English. We both opted for the buckwheat pancakes, which were delicious, and there was so much food that I think I ate enough for two! We were sad to be leaving after such a luxurious stay, having fallen in love with Bingham Riverhouse. It’s safe to say we’re planning on visiting again soon!
