121 EXPERT ADVICE Q&A Beauty & Fashion Local experts offer advice on how to look your big-day best A DAZZLING COMPLEXION I have very dry skin, which tends to make my foundation look like its been caked on rather than smoothly applied. How can I ensure my wedding look is flawless? Jana says: Here are my top tips: ❤ The most important thing you can do is drink plenty of water. ❤ Coconut oil is great for dry skin and improves hydration. I also use it as a natural make-up remover. ❤ Make a mask out of avocado and a table spoon of olive oil. For extreme cases, you could also add a bit of honey. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash it off. ❤ If you’re tight on time, you could opt for a moisturising cream. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream is rich, silky and full of antioxidants. Alternatively, Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturiser is ideal for more sensitive skin. ❤ Bobby Brown offer a primer for smooth application that has a rich feel but isn’t greasy. ❤ One of my favourite foundations is NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. It contains turmeric extract, which is good for acne-prone complexions. ❤ Finish your look with MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder. She’s recently lost a lot of weight and doesn’t feel confident about how she looks. What style of dress would you suggest to give her a boost? Dee says: If your mum has lost a lot of weight, then it may take a while for her to get used to her new shape and feel confident. ❤ Encourage her to experiment and try clothes that are different to what she usually wears. Look at a variety of designs and styles until she finds something that makes her feel comfortable. ❤ I recommend 991441 by Ronald Joyce, 70954 by Condici or ISC 966 by Inspirato. Rosie says: Hollywood is the epitome of glamour. It’s a style that has been adapted throughout the years, from vintage right through to the present day. ❤ Make a list of celebrities that inspire you and create a mood board. This will help you decide what you do and don’t like. ❤ Talk to your supplier about your dress and theme, as both can influence your hair and make-up. When I was the stylist for Elin Manahan Thomas, the soprano who sang at Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding, I knew every detail of her outfit to ensure she looked fabulous. ❤ Book a trial beforehand to make sure you’re happy with everything. ❤ Accessories can transform your whole look and add a bit of extra sparkle to your day.
