6 40 Paper stories M y hubby and I have recently celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary with a lovely weekend away in Edinburgh. The city is gorgeous, and we were so lucky to be staying in the stunning five-star The Radisson Collection Hotel, Royal Mile Edinburgh – it’s an anniversary we wont forget. This important first-year milestone meant we spent some quality time reflecting, not only on the wedding day itself – which we can recall like it was yesterday – but the year we had just experienced as husband and wife. General day-to-day life hasn’t changed, we were happy before we tied the knot and we’re happy after. We still have our first cuppa of the morning in content silence, we make sure once a day we say ‘I love you’ and he’s still a super-health-freak and I would rather eat a bag of Mini Eggs – I’m so glad it’s Easter! Fundamentally we realised it was the bigger stuff we’ve navigated together with love, support, humour and the odd heated debate thrown in: our son had a major operation, my husband’s decide to change his career at 40, we bought a dog then had to re-home said dog, added on top a nice dollop of family dramas, holidays, work commitments and general living, well, it’s been quite a year indeed. But instead of feeling like it was a tough, hard slog, we feel raring to go for this year: we’re ready, we’re a team, bring... it... on!
