Your Surrey Wedding - Apr/May 2019 (Issue 76)
ALL DAY AND NIGHT How can I ensure my make-up stays in place all day for our summer wedding? Jana says: As a make-up artist with oily skin, I’ve tried everything on myself over the years so I have a few useful tips for you! ❤ The base or primer for oily skin like mine is very important. I have two favourites: Becca Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector and Bobby Brown Primer Plus Mattifier. ❤ Then you need a good quality foundation and I highly recommend Esteé Lauder Double Wear – Stay In Place Makeup. For normal or dry skin I use Lancôme La Base Pro Smooth Perfecting Makeup Primer and NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation. ❤ To keep your skin matte for all day you also need a good powder that you can apply anytime you like. I carry my powder with me all the time and I prefer Perfect Selfie HD Photo Finishing Powder by Wunder2. ❤ Once we have a nice matte layer we have to make sure the eye make-up will last just as long. From my experience it doesn’t matter too much which eyeshadow you’re going to use but make sure that you use a cream on the eye lid as a base. I recommend using Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream. ❤ If you’re going to use eyeliner then the best one for me is MAC – Pro Long Wear Gel Liner and I’ve been using this one for years! ❤ Are you thinking more natural and not using fake eyelashes? I recommend any waterproof mascara. ❤ Lets finish the whole bridal make-up with beautiful lips. It all depends if you’re a fan of lipstick or more of a lip gloss lady? I normally use long-lasting lipsticks for my brides, not just for summer weddings. I recommend Max Factor Lipfinity Long Lasting Lipsticks. For lip gloss, try Clinique Long Last Glosswear. I hope my tips were useful dear future brides, enjoy your summer weddings with stunning make-up on! What do you advise? James says: I find that natural/documentary-style photographs of wedding guests wearing sunglasses can add to the story of your day, it just shows how lovely your wedding was and makes for better pictures than squinty eyes. This being said, it’s essential that the sunglasses are removed for the formal group shots. To avoid the “sun in the eyes” look, I make sure the guests aren’t facing the sun and fill the photo with the flash on my camera, this way all harsh shadows are removed and all the guests are comfortable without having to wear their sunglasses. Beverley says: Summer is the most popular time of year to get married and the floral choices available is fabulous. Soft, romantic and ethereal with porcelain, ivory and blush pink tones, or the bold colour palette of vibrant hot colours to reflect the bright sunshine during the summer months with golden orange, cerise, purple, scarlet, cobalt blue and lime green – the choices are endless. Roses are considered to be the summer wedding flowers and my favourites are the scented garden roses Yves Piaget, Keira, Juliet, White O’hara, Prince Jardiner, all so romantic, perfect for a beautiful bride. Alternative English summer flowers are heavenly scented peonies, my personal favourites are Duchesse de Nemours, Shirley Temple and Madame Claude Tain, the perfect wow-factor flowers; combine these with exquisite roses, sweetpeas, jasmine and stephanotis, not forgetting the addition of folige and lavender, with herbs of mint, rosemary, sage and verbena.
