REAL WEDDINGS 43  L aura met Leo at work on his very first day! “Leo walked into where I worked to sign his contract,” shares Laura. “He told his dad he was going to marry me as soon as he saw me. He was so confident! I hadn’t even spoken to him, and neither was I remotely interested at that point either! The more we tried to ignore each other the more attracted to each other we became – we’re both wind-ups, who love great wine and good food.” Two years later on 19 th July, 2016, which was also set to be their chosen wedding date, Leo proposed in romantic fashion while in Lake Garda in Italy. “He proposed to me on a boat he rented for us for the day,” recalls Laura. “He got a bottle of Italian prosecco out at 10am (not a surprise for us on holiday though so I didn’t think much of it) but didn’t bring a cork screw, so smashed it open on the boat which we have since been told is good luck! I knew it was serious when he threw his cigar – which he loves – and walked towards me at the other end of the boat where I was sunbathing. He got on one knee, I thought he was joking… and then his bottom lip went and the tears came! It was so romantic, and the best day of my life, aside from the wedding day of course. It made the holiday and was a dream come true. He is perfect, the setting was perfect and the ring is unreal!” The big date was set for 19 th July, 2018, with St Andrews Church, Farnham, and Farnham Castle both creating the perfect backdrop. Here, we find out more about their big day... SETTING THE SCENE Laura looked stunning in a Stella York gown from Wedding Frox in Guildford, while Leo stood out in a grey and navy blue windowpane check suit teamed with brown suede shoes and belt. John Goodridge in Farnham supplied the navy blue suits worn by the groomsmen which complemented the purple shade of the bridesmaids’ dresses – these were pleated and suited all three of their shapes. ON THE DAY “I started the day very anxious, then emotional, then ecstatic and so in love, then very, very, very drunk!” laughs Laura. “We didn’t get to bed until 6.30am the next day when the gardener was mowing the lawn outside our FIT FOR A PRINCESS Laura and Leo created the perfect fairytale wedding Images courtesy of Denise Winter Photography
