Your Surrey Wedding - Feb/Mar 2019 (Issue 75)
▲ ...WITH ATTIRE Firstly, I’d think about what your mum feels comfortable in and the colours that suit her, if you put her in shades that don’t work with her colour palette, it’s not going to suit her or make her feel amazing, any unsureness in what she is wearing will also show in the wedding pictures. If she really wants to wear a colourful outfit, be careful not to strip out the important parts of her personality, she still needs to look and feel like herself and like your mum. Maybe a neutral background dress with bright floral pattern would work well; then with the accessories she can pick up on the brighter tones to give her a pop of colour but with the background still tying with the bridal party. You can always get shoes and a handbag dyed to match the contrast colour hat as well (we offer this service). Alternatively, statement headwear in the tones of your bridal party will give your mum that bolder look, headwear doesn’t need to be traditional, a statement headpiece on the right person will make them stand out but in an elegant understated way. It’s not always about being the brightest, subtle tones can also be a statement in their own right, just make sure the tones work against your mum’s skin tones and makes her glow. We’ll be stocking up in 2019 and can’t wait to make a knock-out ceremonial archway or garland for the top table in these colours. We’re also loving the huge flowery pom poms now available in fabulously bright colours that you can get to hang from the ceiling of your venue or hang in a tree outside. Such a cost-effective way to decorate especially if your wedding location needs that little bit of extra help to turn it into your dream venue (pompomstudio.co.uk ). Kate Faccenda | Florist | hedgeroseandhoneysuckle.co.uk … WITH STYLING Adding an accent colour to your styling, yet still ensuring it’s elegant, can be difficult; but follow the tips below... ❤ Introduce sprays of diamantés and crystals in your accent hue into ivory/white bouquets for a subtle pop of colour. Ask your florist to bind the bouquets in your shade to add another hint of it. ❤ I sometimes add in ribbons into all the flower arrangements, especially when the couple have chosen a colour that’s not found naturally in fresh flowers, for instance navy blue or teal. ❤ Use crystals, beads or coloured water in the base of vases for tablecentres, or even add an LED light to reflect your chosen colour, these work especially well under water! ❤ Add a table runner or organza/lace/satin overlay, in your chosen hue to add texture too. Use drapes and swags on bannister railings, poles and table fronts. ❤ Scatter sparkling crystals on the tables and mirror plates. Name tags, napkins and favours can also be used to add a small accent of colour to your tables. ❤ A fairylight backdrop always gives wow factor, but why not add some drapes of coloured swag too? ❤ Up-lighters can illuminate a fairylight backdrop or curtain drapes, or use them to colour special venue features such as fireplaces. Used on the outside of the building they will always look amazing and give a modern twist. ❤ Chair covers or Chiavari chairs can be adorend with a strong coloured sash, remember, organza gives a more subtle finish that satin or taffeta.
