Your Surrey Wedding - Feb/Mar 2019 (Issue 75)
106 SHORT DRAMA I wanted a change and thought a new hairstyle would be the way to go; so I’ve cut off my long brown hair into a choppy chin-length bob. I love it, but I’m now worried about my wedding-day style next year. What would my options be? This image as an example, is where the lovely girl’s hair had been cut off to about a jaw-length bob with a sharpe fringe. So with my curl bar, I sectioned off the back and curled everything before I pinned it up. Backcombing the top, I then added the flowers and everyone was wowed as it made her look like she had lots of hair. I quiffed the fringe and sprayed that in the length at the front thats left down, which is in fact the longest part of her hair – just goes to show short hair can be put up Teresa Weller | Hair stylist | 07930 694 636 | teresaweller.com EYE EYE I hate wearing false eyelashes, but understand the importance of making my make-up stand out on the day. What other alternatives are there for the perfect lashes? Lots of brides don’t like the thought of wearing false eyelashes on their wedding day, however, there are a number of ways to make them look longer and thicker. The process many of my brides choose is a Lash Lift which is a beauty treatment I can offer which involves lifting the lashes onto a rod or a shield and using a lifting serum to make them lift up giving a wider, more awake-looking eye. I also tint the lashes at the same time which makes them look thicker. It’s a great procedure and takes just over an hour to do the treatment and immediately you can see the results of bigger, thicker-looking lashes. The treatment lasts around eight to 10 weeks as well, so will last through the honeymoon too! The other alternative is before applying my brides’ mascara I use a heated lash curler. I gently use it to push them up to give a more curled looking position then apply the mascara and they then look longer and more defined. There are quite a few tricks that you can use to obtain a fuller pout without having to go to the lengths of having lip fillers. One option is enhancing your lips with a plumping or collagen balm. Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen Lip, the health and beauty world’s first vegan collagen lip treatment is infused with active plant collagen, beads of microalgae oil and botanic lip enhancers, the treatment works to soothe, smooth and redefine the lips. This is an investment item at £39 from SpaceNK, and should be used 10 days prior to the wedding for you to see any noticeable effects. But it’s a little bit of luxury! An everyday trick you can practice is to pat concealer onto your lips, spreading it a little over your lip line. Exaggerate your shape ever so slightly just to create a fuller effect. Use a lip liner that matches your lipstick, and trace just slightly outside your natural lip line. What is the best way to define them on my wedding day? Eyebrows play a very vital role in your overall make-up look or just your look in general. If you’re very new to eyebrow routine and there’s still time before your big day, the best way to start is a brow pencil two shades lighter than your hair colour. Once you have bought the right shade, make small strokes with the pencil starting from the beginning of your eyebrow going towards the arch – and then from arch to all the way till the end of it. Once the bottom line of the brows is in place then you need to start the top and follow the same method. Fill in any spots in your eyebrows where there isn’t much hair, you want them to look fuller. You need to start light and build up as you go. Then brush them upwards and in place. See yourself in day light, take a picture and ask any family members without telling them that you have done something new, see what they say and take it from there. Try doing it everyday and if you think you’re not doing it right then seek expert advice. Mehwish Saqib | Make-up artist | 07402 746 101 | mehwishsaqibhmua.com Our local pros solve your problems
