One of our highlights from the day was as our guests were being called into dinner, our photographer took us off for some couple shots in the grounds, and the string quartet were still playing – it felt like our own private concert and was really special.” One of the biggest talking points of the day were the singing waiters from Singing Surprise. West End performers sung some of Cassie and Xander’s favourite musical theatre songs, before getting everyone up and dancing at the end of dinner to really get the party started. “This hugely reflected our love of theatre and performance, and the standard of singing was unbelievable!” shares Cassie. “We then had beer pong tables set up outside with monogrammed cups (beer pong is a stable party game for a number of our guests, particularly on Xander’s side!), and a magic mirror photo booth for our cocktail hour – there was no time for hanging around and getting bored! “We did a surprise choreographed first dance, having taken lessons from Start The Dance for a few months prior. This was complete with lifts and dips, which had everyone in tears! Then our band took to the stage. I had found The Toons at a Party Like Gatsby event many years before, and I had always said I wanted them at my wedding – to the point we even changed our original date when we discovered they were already booked! It was absolutely worth it – they were incredible, and the dancefloor was full all night. The lead singer, Robyn, has the most beautiful voice and even threw in a 30-minute sax and DJ set, which got everyone buzzing. “Finally, we ended the night with a firework display from Dynamic Fireworks, who had taken our favourite song, Elephant Love Song Medley from Moulin Rouge, and set the fireworks to music for a stunning six-minute display. It was above and beyond anything we could have imagined! MEMORABLE MOMENTS Understandably, the couple were excited and happy all day! “There were so many standout moments, we kept reminding each other to look around and take it all in,” shares Cassie. “We were both overwhelmed with emotion through the ceremony, and then it was just joy and fun all day!” With so many standout moments it’s hard to choose, but the couple adored delivering their personalised vows. “We had kept our vows a surprise, they had everyone crying and it felt like such a special and unique thing to share. Our speeches were not traditional; as a professional public speaker, I kicked off the proceedings, followed by a collaborative speech from the groomsmen, and a brilliant, personalised poem from the bridesmaids! Then Xander brought everyone to tears with his speech to finish up.” During the dinner, the coordinator and photographer asked if the newlyweds minded delaying dessert to go and take some pictures as the light was perfect, “We jumped at the chance, and had the most incredible golden hour and sunset moment together up on the castle keep – it was a great breather before the entertainment began, and allowed for the most beautiful photos!” says Cassie. “I wanted both my dad and my step-dad to walk me down the aisle as my equal father figures. As lovely and as special as this was, the aisle wasn’t quite wide enough for the three of us, which resulted in them keeping their eyes firmly down so as not to trip over the lanterns in the aisle, and me giggling at what a tight squeeze it was! The registrar invited our mums (who were our witnesses) to stand up with us while we recited our vows. This was lovely, but they weren’t expecting to be asked, and my mum tripped on her way up and nearly brought down the whole moongate! Chaos averted, but it was funny!” 42
