The table plan was a champagne-coloured nautical map, with a flower stenciled print in gold on top. For table names, we used places in New Zealand as a nod to where we met. We wanted to reflect our upbringings in the centrepieces, each base was a suitcase covered in the same table plan map, next to it was a stack of books including cricket books, flying books and ballet books; Matt’s favourite sport is cricket and I grew up dancing. On top of the suitcase was a toy model plane including a little Concorde. In the ceremony we had an amazing cellist called Inaya who is 12 and the maid-of-honour sung a few songs during the signing of the register – all the guests said she was an undiscovered talent! We had a three-tier cake with three different flavours to cater for all tastes: lemon, raspberry and white chocolate, and triple chocolate. The middle tier had a gold-sprayed map and the top and bottom tiers had two little gold aircraft. The whole day was amazing, it’s hard to pick out one standout moment. I really enjoyed the wedding breakfast, seeing everyone that means something to us all together in one place enjoying themselves, and enjoying the lovely food, was very special. The weather was amazing and everyone enjoyed being outside. REAL WEDDINGS 45
