DRESSED TO IMPRESS Jessie wore a Stella York wedding dress that was a classic shape but with pockets for a modern twist. “I choose this style because it made me feel comfortable and beautiful; as someone who has lost lots of weight (15 stone), I wanted something that showed off how hard I’ve worked. I accessorised it with a pearl headband, belt and veil which was layered so it went over my face.” Matt wore a blue suit with tails to match his best man; he opted for a sage-green checkered waistcoat which contrasted with the groomsmen who had blue to stand out. The bridesmaids all wore sage-green dresses from JJ’s House in differing styles, “They all wore different dresses, I didn’t want to put them in the same dress as they are all different heights and shapes so I didn’t want people comparing them,” shares Jessie. DANCING QUEENS “During the ceremony, I walked into a string trio who also played during the canapés and wedding breakfast (think Bridgerton-vibes!). “We had a magician who performed during the day for the guests. He was amazing and personalised his magic tricks; one was about horror films – as that’s Matts favourite genre – and one was exercise-related as that’s my hobby! “In the evening we had an ABBA tribute act; it’s my favourite band and both sets of families love a bit of Dancing Queen – the band was a complete surprise to everyone. We also had a DJ, who also brought a photobooth with him, and the dancefloor was always packed! All the guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been too!” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “It was honestly the best day I’ve ever had,” shares Jessie, “It was worth the two years of planning and time spent making things including hand-cutting my confetti in three different shades of hearts. “I felt incredibly beautiful, wearing the full outfit was amazing after losing 15 stone, I never thought I could wear anything fitted or show off my arms. “The whole church was beautiful, and I cried as soon as I heard my entrance music (Glasglow Love Theme from Love Actually both our favourite film). Both Matt and I cried throughout the ceremony, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. “Seeing the finished marquee and my vision for the garden coming together was also amazing – I cried when the florist first showed me the decorated bar,”continues Jessie. “Everything and everyone made our day special! Our photographer was like a part of the family and went above and beyond to make sure the day ran seamlessly for me (as I kept saying, every family needs a ‘Claire’). Matt also surprised me by singing after his speech – something I had asked him to do but he refused (again little did I know he had already messaged the DJ to organise the whole thing!). We always joke he looks and sings like Michael Bublé! He sang Your Song by Elton John and everyone cried.” REAL WEDDINGS 39
