Your Surrey Wedding - August/September 2024 (Issue 108)

Catherine and Lizzie met at work in 2018. “We became good friends, eventually moving in together as part of a house share in 2019,” they tell us. “We grew closer and on New Year’s Eve, Lizzie shared how she felt and was delighted that my feelings were reciprocated,” Catherine says. “Being friends first meant we already knew so much about each other. We loved being together and shared many interests like cooking shows, video games and music.” Catherine proposed on Lizzie’s birthday in March 2022. “I had planned a day out to Kent where I was planning on proposing on the beach close to where Lizzie grew up in Margate,” she tells us. “But due to Lizzie’s family all getting Covid-19 that weekend, a lastminute change of plan had to occur! I stumbled across the beautiful Painshill Park in Cobham and couldn’t think of another picture-perfect spot to ask Lizzie to marry me. As we were overlooking the grounds, I pointed for Lizzie to look at something in the distance and while she was distracted (and nobody was around), I got down on one knee. “We stayed at Lythe Hill the night before in separate rooms. Catherine was scheduled with the hair and make-up team to get ready last, so she had the longest to wait. She had to keep herself busy to prevent herself from feeling nervous! I spent the morning with our bridesmaids and mothers getting ready in my room. I surprised myself by not feeling too nervous.” - Lizzie 47 REAL WEDDINGS
