Your Surrey Wedding - August/September 2024 (Issue 108)

WHAT’S NEW? Across the Surrey Hills National Landscape from Sutton is Ewhurst, home to the new wedding venue Somersbury Barn set in 30 acres of ancient woodland. It was recently announced as the Best National Event Venue in the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2024 just two years after opening. Lucinda Watkinson, owner of Somersbury Barn said: “We are thrilled to have won this award and would like to thank everyone who voted, to take us through the Nationals. We are a young business and have been blown away by the support we’ve had and are incredibly grateful to be recognised in this way. We work with some amazing local suppliers and without them, this wouldn’t be possible.” Lucinda, along with her husband, Sam have lovingly restored their 16th-century house, ancient barn and beautiful Victorian glasshouse, which stand on land once owned by Henry II in 1154. Somersbury Barn has been transformed into a magnificent event venue which now hosts weddings, birthday parties and other celebrations and has also been used for location shooting. Their Victorian, Foster and Pearson glasshouse offers a more intimate setting for private dinner parties and craft workshops. The Muddy Stilettos Awards, now in their 11th year, celebrate independent businesses across 28 English Counties. After open nominations, five businesses were shortlisted per county for each of the 21 prize categories. These were put through to the National Finals, where a Muddy Stilettos Editorial chose their ‘Best of the Best’. www.somersburybarn.co.uk www.instagram.com/thebarnatsomersbury Another option Hampton Court Palace Golf Club is tucked away in 600 acres within the royal grounds of Home Park.
