FRIMLEY HALL, CAMBERLEY Independent hospitality group, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts with a property, Frimley Hall in Surrey, has funded 15,000 school meals for children in countries including Kenya as part of an innovative new partnership with direct trade coffee producers Paddy & Scott’s. The Lunch Box programme by Paddy & Scott’s, which has now been fully rolled out across Macdonald Hotels & Resorts venues, is a pioneering project designed to fund meals for children living in coffee-growing regions worldwide. As part of the partnership, Lunch Box coffee is served in all of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts’ 32 properties throughout the UK, with guests able to support this charitable effort by enjoying breakfast, afternoon tea or a light refreshment in the hotel of their choice. Each bag of coffee funds a meal for a child in Kenya as part of The Muchomba Project, and other coffee-growing regions worldwide. Michael Savage, head of energy and sustainability at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, said: “Paddy & Scott’s work to support communities aligns seamlessly with our values, and we’re proud to now stock Lunch Box coffee in all our properties throughout the UK. By doing this, we can make a real difference and change young people’s lives in the locations where our coffee is sourced. We’re looking forward to growing this partnership further over the coming months, and continuing to support those most in need, in developing countries.” Joseph Cordy, head of commercial at Paddy & Scott’s, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts. Lunch Box coffee is more than just a bag of coffee; with each purchase, a school meal is provided for a child in need, allowing them to focus on their studies without the worry of where their next meal will come from. We use a blend of our finest beans to produce a premium-quality espresso, creating a beautiful crema and delicious taste for all to enjoy.” Only one wedding a day takes place at Frimley Hall Hotel & Spa, a stunning Victorian manor house with many original period features including stained glass windows. Each of the 98 rooms is elegantly designed with plush fabrics and rich, soft furnishings suited to the quintessentially English countryside location. The ivy wall on the hotel’s gable end creates a lush green backdrop for spring or autumnal photos while the rose garden within the beautifully landscaped grounds is bursting with colour during the summer. The Linden Restaurant, the hotel’s on-site brasserie is flooded with natural daylight and offers a romantic setting during the evening. The sweeping lawn provides a picturesque backdrop for a champagne reception during the summer months and the imposing oak staircase and real log fire inside the property create a cosy space for winter weddings. A wedding breakfast for up to 150 guests and a reception for up to 200 loved ones take place in the self-contained Frimley Suite which can be split into three separate rooms and boasts a private reception lounge and bar. Alternatively, intimate ceremonies of up to 30 guests can gather in the White Room looking across the landscaped gardens. Receptions for 22 people can also be enjoyed in this room with its period features including a carved wooden sideboard. As a dog-friendly hotel, fourlegged friends can also take part in the celebrations. The spa is an idyllic retreat, incorporating a pool, thermal suite and full leisure facilities where pre-wedding services can be booked.
