Your Surrey Wedding - August/September 2023 (Issue 102)

Charlie was so nervous, his finger swelled and he got his ring stuck bless him. We got there in the end after nearly breaking his knuckle to get it on! Charlie wore a navy blue suit that he paired with brown loafers and his groomsmen wore the same coloured suit, but they chose their own style so it felt more personal to them. I bought Charlie a pair of personalised cufflinks that we wore on the day. I wore a white off-the-shoulder dress. As cringey as it sounds, it chose me! It was everything I said I didn’t want in a dress until I tried it on and burst into tears. I felt like one in a million. Lauren got a new job in the local pub where Charlie was working, and it was his looks that caught her eye. “After a few months we realised how compatible we really were. We got each other in ways that no one else had even come close to,” says Lauren. The rest is history and a few years later, Charlie proposed. “It was New Year’s Eve as the clock struck midnight,” she says. “We were at my grandparents’ house which made it more special as I was surrounded by my family. It was a lovely surprise, he got it just right.” The duo tied the knot at Morden Park followed by a reception at Coulsdon Manor. “Morden Park Registry Office was an immediate yes for us. The grounds are beautiful, and the staff made us feel so welcome and special. We liked the fact it was a big open space, which was perfect for our photos.” Here Lauren talks us through their big-day photo album… During our ceremony Charlie got nervous and started pronouncing words wrong, so he had to keep starting the vows from the beginning again. It took him three times to get it right. It made us laugh. Our bridesmaids and two of our flower girls wore pink dresses, and our daughter wore a white dress to match my look. I travelled to the ceremony with my mum and grandad. I was so nervous, but I was glad I had them with me. They kept me grounded and stopped me going mad. 44
