in the woods Rachel and Edward married amongst the trees at Two Woods Estate fulfilling their dream of an outdoor wedding Images courtesy of Lauren Beth Photography Rachel and Ed met in 2013 when they started teaching at the same school. Ed remembers, “Rachel introduced herself as a new member of staff, with a lovely smile, and from that moment I was hooked!” The pair quickly realised that they had a great deal in common, both sharing a passion for sport and the great outdoors, and began going for drinks after school. “Then, one thing led to another at the work Christmas party, as they do!” Rachel says. Ed proposed during a long walk on the South Downs, accompanied by the family’s black labrador, Pepper. He produced a tennis ball and instead of throwing it for Pepper, handed it to Rachel. Inside it was a handwritten poem and as she read it, he got down on one knee to offer her the ring. Rachel remembers, “It was such a surprise and a wonderful moment being in such a beautiful place with our best friend, Pepper there too. We then went on to a nearby beach to celebrate with champagne and moved into our new home the very next day – such a whirlwind!” The couple were all set to get married quite simply in a register office. But one day, when searching for woodland wedding venues, they stumbled upon Two Woods Estate. Rachel explains, “We looked it up online and on Instagram and immediately knew it was the perfect place for us. It’d been our dream to get married somewhere outdoors and the second we saw the beautiful redwood trees that line the ceremony area we looked at each other and knew we just had to get married there. Rob and Woody who own the venue are both such kind and helpful guys, so it made the whole process a pleasure.” The date was set for a magical springtime wedding on 7th April, 2022.
