Your Sussex Wedding - Page number 40 - August/September 2021 (Issue 92)

After the ceremony a brass band led the wedding guests through the museum village down to the marquee. It was the perfect moment. The table plan was a fun and colourful display with printed place names suspended from ribbons on a metal frame. Actor Hugh Bonneville chose the reading for the ceremony. I contacted him knowing he was an avid fan of the South Downs and the Weald and Downland Living Museum, and asked if he knew of any poetry that may be fitting. He responded saying his friend Damien Montague had written a piece, and it worked beautifully. A choir performed Blinded By Your Grace by Stormzy as I walked down the aisle. They also performed Candi Statton’s You’ve Got The Love and Cher’s Believe . We picked these songs for sentimental reasons an d they provided an emotional touch to our ceremony. My dad’s 70-year-old tractor, a family heirloom, helped to welcome guests into the Gridshell building for the ceremony and a Land Rover Defender was used to serve welcome drinks in the marquee field. Our reception was held in the events field beneath a beautiful sail cloth marquee. A separate bell tent outside meant the children had a den for the day. 40
