Your Sussex Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 86)

I knew I didn’t want to spend a lot on the dress as I planned to have it made into gowns for premature babies after the wedding. I tried on a lot of different styles in charity shops, but they all seemed to need too much doing to them, so I settled on a crop top and skirt wedding dress from ASOS. The bridesmaids and I crafted our flowers from Alice in Wonderland books that I picked up in charity shops, and wrapped the stems in ribbons to match each dress colour. Sean wore blue cropped chinos and a white short-sleeve shirt, accessorised with pink braces and a bow tie. His two best men wore the same. We wanted everyone to be comfortable and have something they could wear again. The 12 groomsmen were all dressed in chinos and a white short-sleeve shirt of their choice, with different coloured braces and bow ties. I wore a necklace containing my dad’s ashes and forget-me-nots, along with matching earrings. I also wore a ring from each of my nans, and a rose gold hair piece. I didn’t wear any shoes, I just wrapped my feet in ribbon. Sean and I were so nervous at the altar that I said “I do” even before the registrar had finished talking, and he said his vows so fast, I had to tell him to slow down! We had a vocalist, Aspen, who sung as I walked down the aisle, and during the reception drinks in the forest. We then had another singer on the green called Tom. Our guests loved them both. 50
