Your Sussex Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 86)
I opted for a loose, wild and natural bouquet of blue delphiniums, pale pink stocks, alchemilla mollis, blue thistles, daisies, pink astilbe, astrantia roma, wheat and ammi to complement the rustic, boho theme. It was tied with hessian ribbon to match the chair sashes and table décor. Our table names all had a Lord of the Rings theme – I had to allow Myles some contribution to the day! I must admit, some of the names were rather pretty, such as Rivendell. The bridesmaids’ dresses were tricky to find. I searched for months before finding these. It was important to me that the girls feel comfortable, as well as wearing something to suit the theme, so I was thrilled to be able to give them a choice of styles. For the centrepieces, we chose log slices with bark pots placed on top, holding colourful wild flowers. Myles’ Auntie Christine made us a beautiful cross-stitch embroidery with our names and wedding date on it. She’d made one for his mother when she got married, so it was really special for her to do the same for us. We also had illuminated LOVE letters, lanterns and a post box, all provided by Southdowns Manor. REAL WEDDINGS 45
