Your Sussex Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 86)

From the moment we purchased the groomsmen’s bow ties, I had my concerns that they could prove a challenge for a bunch of men in their late 20s. How right I was! They spent a solid 30 minutes watching YouTube tutorials on how to tie them until one of our guests came to the rescue. Myles wore a pale grey suit, which he chose based on our wedding’s summer vibe. We knew the groomsmen wouldn’t be wearing suit jackets, so Myles stated from the beginning that he wanted a full three-piece suit to stand out. I can’t deny his blue eyes look great with grey! I wore a heavily beaded Stella York gown with cap sleeves, which was accessorised with a flower halo, and aquamarine earrings - a gift from my father many years ago. I decided to be barefoot, so my mother made me some crochet pieces to wear on the top of my feet. It was so special to be wearing something handmade by her. The sun was shining so brightly and not a cloud in the sky. Walking down the aisle with my father and seeing Myles waiting for me was so surreal. It’s something you dream about growing up, and it really was as special as I imagined. We knew we wanted to marry locally as we’re a Sussex couple through and through, and Southdowns Manor offered us a great outdoor location, which was also something we were striving for. The team offered to run the whole day for us, ensuring we didn’t have to worry about a thing - exactly what we were looking for in a venue. We had a live musician, a friend of mine, play some songs on his guitar during the ceremony. He was a total hit and played the most beautiful piece of music as I walked down the aisle. It warmed my heart to have someone so special playing such an important role. 44
