Your Sussex Wedding - April/May 2020 (Issue 84)
Since I work in a pub, it seemed only right to have a drinkable treat to toast the new Mr and Mrs Lennon. I made Skittles vodka for our adult guests, and the younger generation had a Vimto shot instead. Each was labelled: “We tied the knot, so take a shot.” We both felt excited, emotional and nervous, but ready to commit to each other and share our love with our family and friends. David and his groomsmen were dressed in grey lounge suits with deep purple ties. The groom also wore a check waistcoat with a hint of lilac. I first laid eyes on my dress, Astrid by Novia d’Art, at a wedding fair at Cissbury Barns, and instantly knew it was the one . I had a wedding cape made, leaving my back exposed, and accessorised with a lovely back necklace. Then the shoes – my first pair of Christian Louboutin’s! They were all about the sparkle, I love them. The venue was a no-brainer! It’s totally stunning – two magical barns set on the Sussex Downs, which come together to form a truly amazing setting. It was beautifully secluded, just perfect for us. The team at Cissbury was awesome, nothing was too much trouble. My sister wore a deep purple strapless dress. The style and colour were perfect for her, and she looked stunning. My niece was dressed in an off-the-peg Monsoon dress, but I had a tailored sash made to match the hue of my sister’s gown. 48
