Your Sussex Wedding - April/May 2020 (Issue 84)
I wore a Christina Wu dress, which I found at Opulence and Grace’s closing down sale. I knew it was the one for me when I put it on and didn’t want to take it off. It had a heavily decorated bodice so I didn’t wear a necklace, only simple drop earrings from Lovissa. Joe’s suit was tailored to fit and he hired the same for the groomsmen. He selected grey and white waistcoats paired with sage ties and pocket squares for all of the gents, while he accessorised with a white floral tie and pocket square to stand out. The bridesmaids wore long flowing dresses in sage and blush. Luckily, they were available in different lengths as the girls’ heights range from 5ft 1in to 5ft 9ins. Having no clue about flowers myself, it was refreshing to meet Nat of Amerlily’s who came to our house to chat through ideas. We opted for gypsophila, soft pink roses and sage green foliage for my bouquet, with smaller versions for the bridesmaids. For me the highlight of the day was walking down the aisle with my dad, surrounded by friends and family, and then seeing Joe waiting for me in the wedding pavilion. He looked so nervous, but as soon as he saw me, he seemed much calmer. It was so exciting driving to the venue in the open-top Beauford, with everyone waving and cheering. Then after the ceremony we were taken on a short drive along Worthing seafront, as we sipped on chilled champagne, and took some moments to let everything sink in. I made the table plan myself using a pin board. I used a glue gun to stick foam roses around the edge and pegged each guests’ name to string, which hung from the board. 42
