Your Sussex Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 82)

Duncan was dressed in a three-piece suit, with contrasting waistcoat. The best man and my son, who gave me away, wore the same. The Pilgrims Rest is such a beautiful old building, yet it could be decorated as we wanted. The venue’s wedding coordinator, Amy, was so lovely and gave us confidence that everything would run smoothly. I wore a tea-length vintage-style dress from Cutting Edge Brides in Bexley. I wanted to feel relaxed and like myself, so this suited perfectly. I accessorised with a birdcage headpiece and simple jewellery. The registrar was hilarious and made everyone laugh all the way through our ceremony, especially when she quoted the lyrics to Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News as the conclusion to the service. My daughters were my bridesmaids. My eldest wore a grey strapless gown and my youngest was dressed in a dusky purple and white dress. They both paired these with sparkly Converse! My youngest daughter, who is ten, read from The Very Lovely Dinosaur by Edward Monkton in the ceremony. 60
