Your Sussex Wedding - October/November 2019 (Issue 81)
65 REGIONAL SHOOT A s we head into our own generation’s roaring ’20s, this talented bunch of wedding suppliers gathered to toast the fun, fashion, style and décor of the much-celebrated and romanticised 20 th -century equivalent. The team looked to gently weave in intricate touches that exude the jazz age, such as pearl necklaces, ostrich feathers and bold Art Deco colours. Neutral tones blended with dramatic hues and a splash of black to create a striking contrast. With the expensively understated trend for barn weddings firmly dominating the scene in recent years, the team chose one of their favourites, Selden Barns, as the location for their creation. Alison Hood of To Have and To Hire says: “The venue presents couples with so much potential for their big day, with its tranquil location, charming bridal suite, intimate ceremony barn and superb grand barn. So we set out to challenge this trend and create a fresh approach to show just how well suited vintage trends are to such a setting.” Nowhere is this more apparent than in the creative playground that is the ceiling. As we look to the heavens, we find a romantic and whimsical ambience lent by suspended hoops of bullion – a styling newbie that we’ll be seeing much more of over the coming year, so stay tuned! What’s more, this material beautifully complements the 1920s theme, mimicking the essence of the iconic flapper.
